Debra of America is a non-profit that fights Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB.

debra of America is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of all people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) in the United States.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of rare disorders caused by a mutation in one of 18 genes. People with EB share the lifelong challenge of extremely fragile skin that blisters and tears from minor friction or trauma. The list of medical complications EB causes may be long and often requires multiple interventions from a range of medical specialists. EB affects all genders and racial and ethnic groups equally.

EB is the worst disease you have never heard of:

  • EB affects 1 out of every 20,000 births in the United States (approximately 200 children a year are born with EB).
  • 25,000 people struggle with EB in the US
  • 75% of their bodies can be covered in agonizing wounds
  • $10,000 is the average cost per month for specialized bandages
  • 7 surgeries per year are necessary for some with EB
  • 22% of those born with EB in 2014 are no longer with us

Central Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and celebrate Central Park as a sanctuary from the pace and pressures of city life, enhancing the enjoyment and wellbeing of all.

Central Park fall colors and midtown Manhattan skyscrapers.

Central Park is New York City’s 843-acre backyard, an essential space that welcomes over 42 million visitors annually. Each time we visit New York City, we try to set up some time to visit the park and immerse ourselves in its serenity and tranquility, away from the hustle of the metropolis.

Central Park is also a great place to run, with many trails and car-free running areas that allow everyone to exercise and live a health life.

The Central Park Conservancy provides the day-to-day care of this iconic New York destination. It tend to the Park’s complex maintenance, restoration, and architectural needs—from horticulture, tree and turf care, trash management, visitor services, and much more—resulting from massive use.

And here’s where we come in.

The Conservancy’s work is funded primarily by individual donations. We at Running Travelog have chosen to adopt a piece of the park by endowing a beautiful American Elm tree.

It is located on the western side of the park, next to the Imagine mosaic.

You can join us in supporting Central Park through a number of membership and giving options that the Conservancy provides. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
